Greetings, Office Insider!

We are delighted to share with you the visual refresh of the Office desktop apps for Windows 10 and Windows 11. In alignment with the newly released Windows 11 OS that will be available this week to Dev Channel users in the Windows Insiders program, this visual update delivers a simple and more coherent experience across the Office apps you depend on, so that you can focus on your work more easily.

Preview Features for Insiders

Outlook for Windows: Sending accessible emails
By creating and sending accessible emails, you ensure that recipients can access, read, and use the information they contain. We have expanded the Outlook functionality that automatically prompts you when an accessibility violation is detected while composing an email to large audiences or external users, and helps you fix the issue.

PowerPoint: Presenter Coach tutorial
Whether you’re presenting for a couple people on a conference call or 100s of attendees at a large conference, you want to do your best. With tips on public speaking, targeted evaluations, and more, Presenter Coach is an invaluable tutorial that will help you improve your presentation technique.

Outlook for Windows: Reply faster using suggested replies
Outlook now uses a machine learning model to evaluate whether a message fits the criteria for a short, suggested reply. If it does, and you receive an email message that can be answered with just a few words, Outlook will suggest three optional responses that you can use to reply with just a couple of clicks.

Office Mobile for Android: Capture voice recordings
When you need to preserve your key thoughts or record an important discussion, the voice capture feature in Office Mobile is there for you. This Android feature allows you to go beyond simple voice memos, with live speech-to-text transcription. It also offers synced text highlighting during playback and the ability to share your content by exporting it to other Microsoft 365 apps and services.

Word for Android: Utilize Text Predictions
Typing on a phone can be slow and often frustrating. But we know that you want to be as productive while on your phone as you are when sitting in front of your laptop at home or in the office. The text predictions feature in Word for Android, powered by machine learning, now allows you to type more efficiently with fewer mistakes.

Word for Windows: Proof selected text
When working on a large document, you may want to focus on revising or finalizing a specific section before getting input and feedback from others. In cases like this, you’ll often want to use the Editor feature to check the grammar and spelling, and to make refinements to ensure clarity and conciseness for just that part of the document. This is now easy to do in Word for Windows.

Outlook for Mac: Move and copy messages between accounts
Many of you have requested the ability to move or copy an email sent to one of multiple Outlook accounts on your Mac to a folder in a different account. We also know this capability is valuable to those of you who are using a shared mailbox account. Now you can!

Excel for Mac: Import data from local files
Power Query is a powerful set of tools to help you gather and analyze data quickly and easily. After we first introduced this technology to Excel for Mac, we received many requests to add the ability to import data. We heard you! And we’re happy to let you know that you can now import data from local files such as Excel workbooks, as well as from text and CSV files.

Using this feedback and your telemetry, we have resolved these issues (and more!):

  • In Word for Windows, we fixed an issue where comment replies were sometimes lost when coauthoring with multiple users.
  • In Excel for Windows, we fixed an issue where extra entries appeared in the Excel Add-In list for some users.
  • In Outlook for Mac, we added a prompt when discarding a draft message.

Read about these fixes and more in our release notes.
