New service plan, Common Data Service, added to enable future Office features

Major update: Announcement started

Applied To: All

A new service plan, Common Data Service, is being added to Office subscriptions to enable future features.

Once this service plan is in place and you have a Project license (Project for the web), your users will be able to view projects and roadmaps with the new feature, Office 365 user view to Project and Roadmap.

If your tenant does not have a Project license, the new feature, Office 365 user view to Project and Roadmap, will not apply to you.

The feature roll out will begin in mid-May and be complete by the end of August 2020.

This feature is associated with Microsoft Roadmap ID 60646.

[How does this affect me?]

This new service plan enables future features and will be visible within the Microsoft 365 Admin center.

In this scenario, your Office users can view the project and project roadmaps if you have a Project license associated with the expanded list of subscriptions here.

[What do I need to do to prepare for this change?]

Once this update is complete, you will see a new service plan, Common Data Service, in the list of plans included with your subscription.

The service plan will not impact your existing Office 365 subscription.

You may consider updating your training and documentation for Office 365 user view to Project and Roadmap as appropriate.
