Greetings, Office Insider!

We're excited to share how your feedback continues to shape Office in 2020! You let us know about a favorite feature that was in Excel 2011 for Mac but was missing from following versions. You can, once again, set print orientations at the worksheet level. This capability comes in handy when you have worksheets with different orientations in the same workbook.

Preview Features for Insiders

Office for Windows & Mac: Share a link to a specific slide. Do you ever work on presentations that have dozens (if not hundreds!) of slides, and you’re looking for feedback on a single slide from a specific colleague? Rather than sending a link to the entire presentation, you can now send the reviewer a link to the slide you want them to contribute to. No confusion, no wasted time.

SEE THE LINK TO SLIDE FEATURE >

Office for Windows: Hex color values in color picker. The days of spending time converting Hex color values into RGB values is gone! You can now just add the code in the Hex box in the Colors dialog box and click OK. Done!

Office for Windows: Improved pane management. Many of the great capabilities available in Office apps are coming with their own pane. That also means that you can quickly run out of screen real estate! To help ensure that you have more space to work, panes now open as tabs on the right side of the screen, instead of side-by-side, when you're using two or more panes.

Office for iOS and Android: Dictate your documents in Word. Ditch the keyboard and use your voice to quickly drop your thoughts into a document.

Using this feedback and your telemetry, we have resolved these issues (and more!):

  • In Word, we fixed an issue where saving a previously password-protected file to a cloud storage would not work.
  • In Excel, we fixed an issue where text in a slicer did not scale properly in Print Preview.
  • In Outlook, we fixed an issue that caused users to be unable to open public folder messages when Outlook was left running overnight.

Read about these fixes and more in our release notes here.
