Greetings, Office Insider!

XLOOKUP is the successor to the iconic VLOOKUP function in Excel, and it improves upon it in just about every way possible! Lookup vertically and horizontally! Lookup to the left! And get it done with fewer arguments in the formula. We’re excited for you to get your hands on it and let us know what you think.

Office for Mac – Insider Fast: Open and Edit PDFs in Word. A feature that many of you have requested over the years is coming to Word for Mac: opening and editing PDFs! Open a PDF file, convert it to a Word document, and edit away! Once you’re done, save it as a Word doc, or convert it back to a PDF.

EDIT PDFS IN WORD FOR MAC >

Office for Windows: Sensitivity labeling (CLP) in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Keep your documents, worksheets, presentations, and emails compliant with your organization's information protection policies by applying sensitivity labels. You no longer need to manually apply encryption, or manually insert headers or footers into documents to state how sensitive they are, for example. Now, all you need to do is apply a Sensitivity label (like "General" or "Highly Confidential"), and the Microsoft Information Protection platform will do the rest (based on policies IT administrators create).

SENSITIVITY LABELING NOW BUILT INTO OFFICE APPS FOR WINDOWS >

Office for Mac – Insider Fast: Ink Replay in PowerPoint. You can apply the new Replay or Rewind animation to ink and get the drawing effect directly in your presentations! You can adjust the timing of these animations to be faster or slower to match the experience you want. In addition to timing options, you can also control how multiple ink objects contained in a group playback, by using the Effect Options animations.

INK REPLAY IN POWERPOINT >

Office for Android: Grammar corrections in Word. We’ve now added grammar corrections in Word for Android. Look for blue lines and correct grammatical errors before finalizing your draft.

This month, Microsoft President Brad Smith and Carol Ann Browne released their book “Tools & Weapons: The Promise and the Peril of the Digital Age.” In it, they take on big tech issues like privacy, cybersecurity and AI and examine how the same technology that is used to serve humanity can also inflict harm. It’s a fascinating read and one we hope you’ll enjoy too.
