Microsoft #Teams coming to existing installs of #Office365 ProPlus and Office 365 Business/Business Premium

Organization: HCS COMPANY MICROSOFT SERVICES

New Feature: Microsoft Teams coming to existing installs of Office 365 ProPlus and Office 365 Business/Business Premium

Major update: General Availability rollout started

Applied To: All customers

We’re seeing significant Teams adoption and positive feedback from the Office 365 deployments that we’ve released thus far. Accordingly, in the second phase of an effort to improve and streamline users initial experience with Teams, we’re making an enhancement so that the Teams desktop client will be added for existing users with Office 365 ProPlus, Microsoft/Office 365 Business, and Microsoft/Office 365 Business Premium apps.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 51452.

[How does this affect me?]

Once available, users will have the Teams desktop client installed, by default, when updating their Office client. This can be managed via the Office Deployment Tool and ExcludeAppelement in a configuration.xml file.

We'll roll this out in the second half of June to Business/Business Premium and Office 365 ProPlus customers on the Monthly update channel. We’ll continue the rollout to desktops on Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted) and Semi-Annual Channel in the coming months.

[What do I need to do to prepare for this change?]

If you would like to have the Teams desktop client installed, you don’t have to wait. Please see the Additional Information for details on how to manage the install of Teams now. If you do nothing, the Teams desktop client will be installed by default, for users, when you receive this update.

For general information on deploying/managing Teams please see: Microsoft Teams technical documentation.
