Productivity insights in Outlook powered by MyAnalytics

Major update: General Availability rollout started

Applied to: All customers

We’re excited to offer you an improvement in MyAnalytics, that gives you more choice and control over which features you want your users to see when. You now have the ability to provide users with only insights from the Outlook add-in powered by MyAnalytics. Over time, we will add functionality such as tenant-level admin toggles to give you even more control and choice over additional MyAnalytics features.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 45625.

This affects all users with Microsoft 365 E5 and Office 365 E5 licenses.

[How does this impact me?]
Starting February 18th, you could see a new “MyAnalytics” licenses as part of your Microsoft 365 or Office 365 E5 licenses. This new license provides MyAnalytics Outlook add-in functionality and it will begin to roll out after 30+ days to allow you time to manage your settings. At that time, users with assigned and active licenses will see the add-in in their Outlook client ribbon and Outlook web ribbon. When they launch the add-in, they will see their personal and private productivity insights. We plan to add tenant level toggles to control the capabilities (ex. Weekly Digest Email) we add over time to this “MyAnalytics” license.

Beginning in early March, the MyAnalytics licenses you received with your E5 license will be renamed “MyAnalytics (Full)”, and the new “MyAnalytics” licenses will be renamed “Insights by MyAnalytics”. This is to clarify the difference between the two licenses.

[What do I need to do to prepare for this change?]
You don't need to do anything to prepare for this change, but may consider unassigning licenses, updating your user training, and notifying your helpdesk.

If the “Microsoft MyAnalytics” licenses you received when you purchased E5 are assigned and active for your users, please allow both those “Microsoft MyAnalytics” licenses and the new “Insights by MyAnalytics” licenses to remain assigned and active for your users. The functionality will default to "Microsoft MyAnalytics", there will be no service interruption and no action is needed.

If “Microsoft MyAnalytics” licenses are unassigned or disabled for your users, please consider leaving the “MyAnalytics” licenses assigned and active, as you will have greater control on which features your users have access to going forward. Alternatively, you can use a Powershell script to unassign or disable the “MyAnalytics” licenses for your users Click here to learn more.

The add-in is subject to the same GDPR compliance terms as Office 365, and all insights are only available to end users—no Admin or manager can see those insights. The add-in does not begin processing data for insights until a user clicks to enable it. Click here to learn more about how Microsoft protects your privacy.
