Microsoft is removing support for Office Discovery Service

Organization: HCS COMPANY

Reminder: We are removing support for Office Discovery Service

Major update: General Availability rollout started

Applied to: All customers

As previously communicated in MC124061 in October 2017, we will be retiring the Office Discovery Service API from Office 365 as of November 1, 2019. You are receiving this message because our reports indicate that your organization uses one or more Office 365 applications that utilize the Office Discovery Service API.

Over the last few years, we have been investing in services that help developers access information in Office 365 in a simple and intuitive way. As we make progress along this journey, some existing technologies no longer provide the best way to interact with Office 365 data. In this case, the API we are retiring has been superseded by Microsoft Graph.

[How does this affect me?]
Beginning November 1, 2019, any code using the following API will no longer execute:
- Office 365 Discovery service in the endpoint https://api.office.com/discovery

If you are using or building applications for Office 365, your app using this API will not function correctly once this change is implemented.

[What do I need to do to prepare for this change?]
If you have written your own application using the Office Discovery Service API, you will need to update your code to use the new Microsoft Graph API as well. We are making attempts to reach out to the application providers as well to alert them about upcoming retirement of Office Discovery Service API.
